Role of Atmospheric Water Generators in Addressing Growing U.S. Drought
and Need for Reliable Fresh-Water Supply
Monday October 22, 10:00 AM EDT
WaterPure International, Inc. (WPUR) today urged greater public awareness
of advanced cost-effective technologies, such as the company's atmospheric
water generators (AWGs), to combat growing consumer need for fresh-water
supply in a time of expanding drought.
Last week, on October 16, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA) reported drought conditions growing throughout the Central and
Southeastern states and declared that September 2007 was the eighth
warmest on record for the continental U.S. On October 18, an article
in BusinessWeek, by Nanette Byrnes, quoted the president of Atlanta's
Chamber of Commerce saying that diminishing water supply threatens to
become an important constraint on the region's economic growth. The
article said the greatest increased demand in the South is coming from
homeowners' need for tap and lawn water. Similar reports were broadcast
on national news networks.
"WaterPure is trying to raise awareness that atmospheric water
generators -- which create fresh water from the humidity in the air
-- offer an important new and cost-effective means to address the need
for fresh drinking water," said Paul S. Lipschutz, WaterPure Chairman.
"We do not have to rely solely on our shrinking rivers and lakes
and aquifers, especially in a region that still offers considerable
humidity in the air."
Last June, WaterPure opened a regional operations center in Fort Lauderdale,
Fla., and in July, established a regional distribution and fulfillment
center in Miami. Florida and contiguous states form one of the Company's
most robust markets, since pure atmospheric water is often more plentiful
than pure ground water in the region. The company has also appointed
a Master Distributor for the Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky tri-state region,
which will target military installations as well as consumers in the
area.
The company's products have attracted attention from the Department
of Defense and Nuclear Power Plant operators because they eliminate
the need for delivery of bottled water by outside vendors and thus improve
security. Places like the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Greece and Nigeria,
which have limited ground water sources, have also requested the right
to distribute WaterPure's AWGs. The company is in the process of approving
more distributors and master distributorships both nationally and internationally.
About Atmospheric Water Generators (AWGs)
The WaterPure Atmospheric Water Generator extracts moisture from the
atmosphere through a condensation process and transforms it into absolutely
pure, healthy drinking water. Multiple air and water filtration systems
remove particulate matter smaller than .01 microns. Utilizing high intensity
UV (ultra violet), it eliminates any microorganisms including bacteria
and viruses. Test results of WaterPure water measured 99.9% purity,
far exceeding EPA requirements. Operating on standard 110v power in
the USA, it is extremely efficient and uses a minimal amount of energy
to produce water. Depending on local electricity costs, a gallon of
WaterPure water costs about 8 cents to produce. The unit requires no
plumbing, water lines, or pipes and is easily installed. Driven by a
microcomputer control system, it will stop generating water when full.
The WaterPure purification system employs special filters to remove
any unpleasant tastes or odor that may be present in the air. The result
is fresh and delicious drinking water in its purest form.
